Inspiring History Teaching Awards
We are very proud to announce one of our own has been named South West Winner!
Head of History, Mr Slaughter, says he feels “very humbled” after being named one of the top 10 history teachers in the UK in the first-ever Inspiring History Teaching Awards, run by Historic Royal Palaces.
He was actually nominated by one of his own students, which made the recognition even more meaningful. After 15 years teaching at St Peter’s R.C. High School says he still loves bringing history to life and getting students excited about the past.
The awards celebrate teachers who make history engaging and memorable, with the final winner set to be announced at a ceremony at the Tower of London on June 20. The judging panel is led by historian and broadcaster Lucy Worsley.
Mr Slaughter speaks warmly about his students and colleagues, saying there’s “no better job,” especially when he sees students go on to become history teachers themselves. Organisers also praised all the shortlisted teachers for their creativity and passion in helping young people connect with history in meaningful ways.
