Performance in Education
On Friday 2nd February, year 8 students attended a fabulous production in school from “Performance in Education” on behalf of “One Gloucestershire” entitled “Career opportunities within the NHS”.
Theatre education is an incredibly effective way to engage young people, stimulate learning and inspire involvement. Students had the opportunity to find out more about their post 16 options as well as learning how the NHS provides 350 different careers to choose from, all of which make a difference to peoples’ lives every day. The event gave students a valuable insight into the wide range of roles available within the NHS and their entry routes such as apprenticeships, direct employment and graduate roles. The performance highlighted how students can match their skills, qualities and interests to those required for different jobs. Students left the session feeling encouraged to continue to research their careers ideas and to find out more about apprenticeships. This event lead nicely onto National Apprenticeship Week, this week which we have celebrated in school with tutor time activities, assembly presentations and parent and student newsletters.
