The Glory of Christmas!
Wednesday evening saw our annual Carols by Candlelight service held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Stroud. The audience heard a number of readings from staff and students (including Paddington Bear meeting Father Christmas!), along with a varied programme of traditional carols and hymns performed by the choir and congregation.
Once again, the choir was comprised of current students from all year groups, and staff. We are delighted to showcase a KS3 Choir, a Senior Girls’ Choir and a Senior Boys’ Choir alongside our main school choir. It is a very proud moment when an A-Level Music class can sing in four-part harmony. We are honoured to welcome back a number of former students to sing with us again this evening. Some are on their Christmas break from university, others have kindly taken time out of their busy work schedules to sing once again with their St Peter’s family. We are extremely proud of all of them and are very grateful that they are performing with us.
Our students, past and present, remind us that, just as the Page trod in his Master’s steps, we can also follow in each other’s footsteps, bringing the glory of Christmas to each new generation.
May we take this opportunity to wish you and your families a joyful & peaceful Christmas.
“This is the gift we find at Christmas. We discover to our amazement that the Lord is absolute tender love. His glory does not overwhelm us; his presence does not terrify us. He is born in utter poverty in order to win our hearts by the wealth of his love.”
